Hi, I'm Lyndsay
Founder of Kairos Support Solutions
I am a mum of 3 children, a son and a daughter both at university and a son in Primary school. We have 2 cats called Rain and Masika. I grew up in Fife and have lived in West Lothian since I was 18.
My first career was in Pharmaceutical Science and over the years I have worked in sales and marketing and co-owned a healthy curry company, but nothing felt right to me until I started working supporting children and families.
In May 2022 I completed the Practitioner course for Drawing and Talking Therapy, and have enrolled on the Advanced Drawing and Talking Practitioner course, as well as the Talking Mats course, in Summer 2024.
Experience as Pupil Support Worker
In 2012, when pregnant with my youngest child, I volunteered as a parent helper in my children’s school and felt a real connection to the support I was offering. I made the decision to return to college and qualify with SVQ Level 2 and Level 3 in Social Services (Children and Young People). After working in a mainstream high school, I started working in the local Social, Emotional, Behavioural Needs (SEBN) school, mostly within the primary side but also working in both mainstream and the SEBN high school, supporting young people with both their education and their emotional needs, helping them learn what they need and how best to support themselves, giving them the strategies and tools needed to support themselves going forward.
Over this time I trained in several areas, including Mental Health, Autism, anxiety and bereavement, and have supported young people with difficulties such as sleep issues, self harm and self esteem.
Experience as Family Support Worker
In 2022, around the time I qualified as a Drawing and Talking Practitioner, I was given the opportunity to expand the reach of the support I offer by becoming a Family Support Worker, working with families from pre-birth onwards. A large focus of my work was with young people struggling with attendance at school for a variety of reasons, including, but not limited to, their mental health, parental mental and physical health, addiction and sleep disorders.
This role allowed me to work with full families, people of all ages, tailoring the support I offer to the person.
Why Kairos Support Solutions?
When I was in the early stages of creating Kairos Support Solutions, I knew I wanted a name that described I do more than offer support by scaffolding my clients to grow from the difficulties they are experiencing that brought them to seek my services, and change into the person they want to be. Having considered words such as kinetic, nexus, transition, metamorphosis and evolution, I came across the word Kairos. And I knew this was the right name to describe the ethos of the business I wanted to create.
According to www.merriam-webster.com, Kairos is defined as “a time when conditions are right for the accomplishment of a crucial action : the opportune and decisive moment”. Kairos was also the God of Opportunity in Greek Mythology.
And now is your definitive time to change and grow with Kairos Support Solutions
