What is Drawing and Talking 1-2-1 Therapeutic Support?
Drawing and Talking is a therapeutic intervention based on both Play Therapy and Carl Jung’s Attachment Theory. It is designed as a short-term support that works both on its own and as well as complimenting traditional therapy, and is effective while awaiting specialist services, such as psychology or Children and Adolescents Mental Health Services (CAMHS).
Unlike invasive treatments, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which requires addressing past traumas and difficulties directly, Drawing and Talking is non-intrusive, working in the subconscious to process emotional pain. By the medium of drawing, a safe space is created to address feelings, allowing the person to open up in a non-directed way.
Drawing and Talking Therapy is an effective support for anyone aged 5 to 105 experiencing mental health difficulties and traumas, including anxiety, stress and phobias, bullying, past domestic abuse, divorce and family separation, autism, adoption, bereavement, LGBTQ+, difficulties transitioning and so much more.
In Drawing and Talking 1-2-1, there are no artistic skills needed; you will be provided with items needed. Sessions last 30 minutes and take place once a week for 12 weeks in a place convenient to you, be that in a local community centre or at your home. Sessions can also be conducted online.
Before the start of the 12 week block, a free consultation will be held to allow the opportunity to answer any questions you may have.
